Frequently Asked Questions
Which iPhones support NFC?
iPhone 7 and later support NFC tag reading. iPhone Xs, Xr, and later support background tag reading (tap without opening an app). NFC writing requires iPhone 7 or later with iOS 13+.
What NFC tags should I buy?
We recommend NTAG215 stickers — they're affordable, widely available, and work great with iPhones. Get them from Amazon here → NTAG213 (smaller capacity) and NTAG216 (larger capacity) also work.
Where do I hold my iPhone to scan?
Hold the top of your iPhone (near the camera) close to the NFC tag. You'll feel a haptic tap when the tag is detected.
Can I rewrite a tag?
Yes! As long as the tag hasn't been locked, you can erase and rewrite it as many times as you want. Use the "Erase Tag" tool in the Create tab under Advanced to clear a tag first.
Is my data safe?
Absolutely. NFCThis works entirely offline. Your scan history, templates, and settings are stored only on your device. Nothing is sent to any server. See our Privacy Policy for details.
How do I restore my data if I get a new phone?
Your NFCThis data is included in iCloud backups and device-to-device transfers. When you set up a new iPhone from a backup, your history, templates, and settings come with it.
The app can't read my tag — what's wrong?
Some tags use proprietary formats that aren't NDEF-compatible. NFCThis reads standard NFC Forum tags (NTAG, MIFARE Ultralight, MIFARE DESFire). Hotel key cards, transit cards, and some access badges use encrypted protocols that can't be read by third-party apps.
